A Fancy Tea Ceremony

Japanese schools have club activities
Basically sports and cultural festivities

One of them is “Sado bu” (茶道部)
which is “Tea Ceremony” (to you)

Hanabira kochi – a sweet miso filling with candied burdock root (gobo) encased in white mochi with a pink tinge
to be eaten before the tea

I was invited to sit in on a ceremony practise
A culturally rich experience (with a yummy bonus)

The detail in the cup is part of the experience
sitting Japanese style HURTS
THE perfect matcha

The ceremony has many intricacies
it takes practise to perfectly execute these
