Summer Festivals

All through summer, it’s tradition
to don a yukata and get matsuri trippin’

Dance the dance because everyone’s welcome
The fan dance, lanterns, and taiko drummers beckon

This is a throwback, back to Obon
Dance! because your ancestors are home

summer festivals 1

All you do is dance in a circle,
and follow the person’s actions in front of you

I haven’t worn a yukata since I was little
because it’s hot AF with all the layers of material!

But it’s still fun, and there’s always watermelon
or pineapple on a stick, which is absolute heaven
